This is the third video for my video stencils, mixing the feminine domain of the kitchen with the artist’s domain.
Not completely satisfied with the end result. This did generate some new ideas which, in part, is what this is about
Repurposing my baking goods and the crocheted table cloth my mother gave me when I got married.
I thought I would move my couch away from the wall to use a nice patch of sun that was falling across my living room. As I moved the couch I revealed an unhealthy amount of dust and dog hair…I ditched my original concept and decided to start with this.

Part expriment with distant / hybrid artmaking, part conversation between two artists and friends, this project is a collaboration between Claire Sherwood and Cigdem Slankard. Claire is a sculptor and I am a filmmaker. We have made collaborative works in the past, where we explore themes of domesticity, femininity and the apparent banality of everyday life. Our new project is a new collaboration in which we converse with each other through videos we post on this page. Claire is the first to go and I am waiting for her to say something.
